Decimal odds of 2.40 mean a winning 10 lei bet returns 24 lei — your stake plus 14 lei profit. Implied probability is 1 ÷ odds: at 2.40, about 41.7%. If you think the event is more likely than that, the price looks good; if less likely, it does not.
The bookmaker's margin
Add up the implied probabilities of all outcomes in a market: the total exceeds 100%, and the excess is the margin. Illustrative example: a football match priced 1.95 / 3.40 / 4.00 gives 51.3% + 29.4% + 25.0% = 105.7%. That margin of about 5.7% is what you pay, on average, on every bet in that market. Margins differ widely: main markets on big matches are usually cheaper than exotic ones.

Live betting and cash out
Live bets are placed during the event with odds updated continuously. Cash out lets you settle a bet before the end for an amount the bookmaker offers. That amount carries a margin of its own: you close for less than the bet's fair value. Treat cash out as a control tool, not a profit strategy.
Betting bonuses: free bets, odds boosts, bet insurance
- Free bet: a stake paid by the bookmaker, but usually only the profit is paid out, not the stake. A 15 lei free bet at 4.00 returns 45 lei if it wins, not 60.
- Odds boost: higher odds on a named event; check the maximum stake allowed at the boosted price.
- Bet insurance: if the bet loses, the stake comes back, usually as a free bet.
- Sports wagering: sports bonuses often require bets at minimum odds and with a minimum number of selections.
A free bet is worth roughly stake × (odds − 1) × true probability. At 4.00 odds and a 5% margin, a 15 lei free bet is worth about 10.70 lei on average.

Betting feels different from casino play because knowledge seems to matter, and it can — but only if your estimates are better than the market's.
