Wagering requirements: the arithmetic behind every bonus
Wagering — also called rollover or playthrough — is the total amount you must bet before bonus money turns into money you can withdraw. You will not find Powerbet's current multiples here; they differ per promotion and are printed in each offer's terms. A bonus is conditional credit. The condition is a multiple: "30x wagering" means the bonus (sometimes bonus plus deposit) must be bet thirty times. Every bet counts, won or lost. Once total bets reach the target, the remaining bonus balance becomes withdrawable. Two details change the maths entirely and are usually in small print: the base of the multiple and the deadline.
The formula
Every bet has an average cost — the house edge, which is 100% minus the game's RTP. On a 96% RTP slot the average cost is 4% of every unit bet.
- Total wagering = base × multiple.
- Expected loss = total wagering × house edge.
- Expected value of the bonus ≈ bonus − expected loss.
Positive means the offer is worth something on average; negative means you pay more along the way than you receive. The average guarantees nothing in one session, but it tells you which side the offer is built for.
Worked example
Illustrative example, not a Powerbet offer: deposit 150 lei, get a 150 lei bonus with 40x wagering on the bonus only.
- Total wagering: 150 × 40 = 6,000 lei.
- On a 96% RTP slot the expected loss is 6,000 × 0.04 = 240 lei.
- Expected value: 150 − 240 = −90 lei.
- With 40x on bonus plus deposit: 300 × 40 = 12,000 lei, expected loss 480 lei, expected value −330 lei.
The same "40x" produces two very different offers. The base is the first thing to find in the terms.
Game contribution
Not all bets count in full. The ranges below are typical market values, not Powerbet's terms — the table that applies is in each promotion's terms.

The rule: bets actually needed = wagering left ÷ contribution rate. That is why "I'll clear it on blackjack because the edge is low" rarely works — the edge is low, but 10% contribution multiplies the volume by ten.
Tracking progress
- On activation, write down the bonus amount, multiple, base, deadline and maximum bet.
- Convert the target into lei and divide by the days available. If it exceeds what you normally play, that is your answer.
- Compare the account progress bar with your own figure; gaps usually come from reduced-contribution games.
- Do not request a withdrawal mid-way without checking what happens to the bonus — it is usually forfeited.
Mistakes that void the bonus
- A single bet above the maximum stake.
- Playing excluded games while a bonus is active.
- Letting the deadline pass with wagering unfinished.
- A partial withdrawal when the terms say it cancels the offer.
